2027 Chinese Zodiac: The Fire Goat (Ding-Wei) Year Explained
2027 is a Ding-Wei (丁未) year, the Year of the Fire Goat. In Bazi the new year begins at Lichun around 4 February 2027, a few days before Chinese New Year on 6 February 2027. How the year affects you depends on your full chart, not only your zodiac animal.
When does the 2027 year start?
Chinese New Year falls on 6 February 2027 (the Lunar New Year). The Bazi year starts at Lichun (立春), around 4 February 2027. If you were born between those dates, or in January, check which year pillar your chart uses.
What is a Ding-Wei year?
Ding (丁) is the Yin Fire stem and Wei (未) is the Goat branch, which belongs to Earth. Together they form the sexagenary pair Ding-Wei, which returns every 60 years. That is why 2027 is called a Fire Goat year. (The Goat is also called the Sheep or Ram in some English sources.)
How does the Goat relate to other zodiac animals?
In the traditional branch relationships, the Goat is associated with:
| Relationship | Animals |
|---|---|
| Six Harmony (六合) | Horse |
| Three Harmony (三合) | Rabbit and Pig |
| Clash (六冲) | Ox |
| Punishment (三刑) | Ox and Dog |
These relationships show how the year's branch interacts with the branches in your chart. They are one factor among many and do not give a complete forecast.
Why a zodiac-only forecast is limited
Annual forecasts that use only your birth-year animal ignore your month, day and hour pillars and your Luck Pillar. Two people with the same animal can have very different years. A personal reading compares 2027 with your whole chart. Learn the basics in What is Bazi?
How to prepare for 2027
- Find out which Bazi year you were born in (check Lichun, not Chinese New Year).
- Note the big decisions you are considering in 2027, such as a job change, a move, a business launch or a relationship milestone.
- Gather your exact birth date, time and place.
- Book a reading early in the year if you want to plan around the Lichun change.
What changes at Lichun?
At Lichun the Bazi year pillar moves from Bing-Wu (2026, Fire Horse) to Ding-Wei (2027, Fire Goat), and the month pillar moves to Ren-Yin. Anyone born in January or early February should check their year pillar before reading any 2027 forecast. The free Bazi calculator shows the pillar for your exact birth moment.
