How this calculator works
- Calendar data: pillars are computed with the open-source lunar-javascript library (MIT licence), which uses astronomical solar-term times.
- Year and month pillars change at solar terms (Lichun for the year), not at Chinese New Year or the lunar month. Your birth time is converted to UTC+8, the time standard used for the term tables, before these two pillars are chosen.
- Day and hour pillars use your local clock time at birth.
- Not included: true solar time (longitude adjustment) and automatic daylight-saving lookup. Choose the UTC offset that was in effect when you were born.
- Luck Pillars run forward or backward from the month pillar depending on gender and the polarity of the birth-year stem. The start age is estimated from the distance to the nearest solar term.

FAQ
Calculator questions
Is this Bazi calculator free?
Yes. It is free, needs no sign-up and runs entirely in your browser. Your birth details are not sent to our server.
How accurate is the chart?
The four pillars are calculated from astronomical solar-term data, so the chart itself is exact when the birth date, time and time zone are correct. The interpretation of a chart is a separate matter and depends on the reader.
Which time zone should I choose?
Choose the UTC offset of your birthplace at the time you were born, including daylight saving if it applied. The calculator converts it so the year and month pillars use the correct solar-term moment.
What if I do not know my birth time?
Tick “I do not know my birth time”. You will get the year, month and day pillars. The month pillar can be uncertain if a solar term falls on your birth date.
What does the calculator not do?
It does not adjust for true solar time or longitude, and it does not interpret your chart. For an interpretation, book a reading.
Is this calculator the same as a Bazi reading?
No. The calculator shows your chart. A reading explains what the chart means for your questions, timing and decisions.
