THE SERVICE

A Chinese name chosen for one particular chart

A Chinese name is chosen to be read, said and lived with for a lifetime. In the traditional approach, the name is also designed to fit the birth chart. Master Mandy Lim reads the chart, looks at the balance of the five elements, and designs the options by hand for each client.

  • Chart first. The Bazi chart is prepared from the birth date and time. The reader looks at which of the five elements are strong, weak or missing.
  • Elements in the characters. Characters are chosen so that their elements suit the chart.
  • Sound, shape and meaning. Names should sound pleasant, avoid awkward homophones, read and write well, and carry a good meaning.
  • Avoiding clashes. The options avoid characters that conflict with the child's zodiac, rare or awkward characters and the names of elders.
  • Made for you. Each option is designed for the individual chart. It is not copied from a popular-names list.

PRICE

Chinese naming fee

Chinese baby naming and name-change consultations start from RM 368. We confirm the fee in writing before you book.

Message us with the birth details and what you need. If you would rather pay in another currency, ask us to quote it.

THE PROCESS

How a naming consultation works

  1. Get in touch. Message us on WhatsApp with your naming request and the details below.
  2. Chart analysis. The Bazi chart is prepared, the five-element needs are identified and the name options are designed. This usually takes several days.
  3. Receive your options. You receive the name options with an explanation of each, usually as a PDF report.
  4. Questions and final choice. You can ask about the options, then choose the name that suits you and your family best.

What to prepare:

  • Date of birth (solar or lunar) and the exact time of birth
  • Family name, and any generation characters your family uses
  • Gender, which helps with the style of the name
  • Your preferences: characters or meanings you want, and any to avoid

WHAT YOU RECEIVE

The naming report

  • Several name options that fit the birth chart and carry a good meaning.
  • An explanation of each name: the meaning of the characters, their five-element attributes and why each name suits the chart.
  • A PDF report with all the options and the analysis, so that you and your family can read it and keep it.

A name is a thoughtful choice, not a guarantee. Names and Bazi are traditional practices used for reflection. They are not medical, legal, financial or mental-health advice.

GENERATOR OR CONSULTANT?

Why a consultation, not a name generator

Online name generators are quick and free to try, and they can be a good way to collect ideas. A consultation does a different job.

FAQ

Chinese naming: common questions

How much does Chinese baby naming cost?

Naming starts from RM 368. Please message us with the birth details and what you need, and we confirm the fee in writing before you book.

What is the difference between a consultation and a name generator?

A generator produces a list of names from a few inputs. In a consultation, the practitioner reads the birth chart by hand, checks the balance of the five elements, designs the name options for that chart, and explains the meaning of each one. You also receive a written report and can ask questions about the options.

What do you need from me?

The baby's (or your own) date of birth in the solar or lunar calendar and the exact birth time, the family name, the gender, and any preferences, such as characters you would like to include or avoid and any family generation characters.

What will I receive?

Several name options chosen to fit the birth chart, with an explanation of the meaning and five-element attributes of each name, in a PDF report. After you read it, you can ask questions and choose the name you like best.

How long does it take?

Designing the options usually takes several days, so that the names can be checked carefully. We agree on a delivery time when you book.

Is this only for babies?

No. The same process is used for adult name changes. People change a name for personal reasons such as a fresh start or a name that has never felt right. A name does not change your circumstances by itself.

Can you explain the names in English?

Yes. Sessions are in English or Chinese, and the naming report can be provided in English, with the meaning and five-element attributes of each name explained. Please mention your preferred language when you book.

Can a name guarantee good luck?

No. In the traditional view, a name is chosen to suit the chart and to sound and read well. It is not a guarantee of any result. Think of it as a thoughtful gift for the child, not a promise about the future.
